William Leroy Morey,Mandy Coleman Obituary, Death; – A man from Virginia is charged with murdering his wife due to infidelity — and subsequently killing another man because he believed he was destined for incarceration, as reported by law enforcement.
Law enforcement officials responded to a residence in Ridgeway, Virginia, after receiving a notification shortly before 1 p.m. on Tuesday regarding a man who had been shot in the street. The individual, later identified as 68-year-old William Leroy Morey, sustained multiple gunshot injuries and was declared dead at the scene, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
Morey was allegedly checking on 22-year-old Mandy Coleman, who resided at the home with her two young children. Authorities discovered Coleman deceased from a gunshot wound.
Her spouse, 30-year-old Joshua Corbett Coleman, quickly became a person of interest.
Police apprehended him around 2:40 p.m. during a traffic stop, where they also found the children inside the vehicle. They were reported to be “safe and unharmed,” according to the sheriff’s office. Coleman was found to be in possession of a handgun and an AR-15 rifle, as stated by law enforcement.
Coleman confessed to the murders following his arrest, according to a criminal complaint acquired by WDBJ7.
He informed the police that he confronted her about infidelity during a heated argument before retreating to his room, retrieving a firearm, and shooting her in the head, as detailed in the complaint. Coleman then took his two children with him in the vehicle. He “knew he was going to jail” and resolved to locate Morey to kill him as well, the complaint indicates.
After failing to find the 68-year-old man at his residence, Coleman returned to the Ridgeway home to discover Morey in the street and shot him dead, according to the filing. The nature of the relationship between Morey and the Colemans remains unclear. An investigation is currently underway.
Coleman is presently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond. He is facing two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, one count of shooting from an occupied vehicle, and two counts of child abuse.
Authorities are offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information related to the case.
