John Obermiyer Obituary, Death;- A man received his sentence Friday for a crash that killed a 55-year-old Champion man last month.

Tommy Hale, Jr., 70, had his first appearance Friday morning in Warren Municipal Court, where he pleaded guilty to first-degree misdemeanor vehicular homicide and manslaughter. The case was filed Friday, and Hale entered his plea on the same day, according to court records.

Court records state that Hale received 90 days in jail, five years of probation and a three-year driver’s license suspension. Hale was identified as the driver in a crash around 6:20 p.m. on June 2 in the area of North Park Avenue and Comstock Street NW.

According to a crash report, Hale was eastbound in a Chevy Silverado on Comstock Street when he failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a motorcycle traveling through the intersection. The report says the motorcyclist, John Obermiyer, was thrown from the bicycle.

An ambulance took Obermiyer to St. Joseph Hospital, where he died. The report states that Hale was traveling the posted speed at the time and was not using drugs or alcohol. Hale is currently being held in the Trumbull County Jail.
