Geraldine Harris Obituary

Derrion Taylor faces charges of First-Degree Murder, Two Counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, and Two Counts of Aggravated Assault. He was apprehended by U.S. Marshals.
Victim Geraldine Harris was discovered deceased in her residence on Kendale Avenue in the Glendale neighborhood of Midtown on January 17, 2024. Additionally, two other female victims sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to hospitals with critical injuries.

Authorities report that the shooting was initiated due to a dispute involving a family member and two men. Marshals indicated that an investigation pointed to Taylor, who was 17 years old at the time of the incident. A warrant for his arrest was issued on Tuesday.

Taylor was taken into custody without incident at approximately 8 a.m. on Thursday at a residence located in the 3000 block of Colony Drive in Memphis.

The arrest of Taylor by the U.S. Marshals Service occurred less than 12 hours after WREG broadcasted an interview with the victims’ family members, who expressed concerns regarding the sluggish pace of justice in this case.

“Take immediate action, intensify your efforts; this cannot be allowed to continue. Do you wish to wait until this young man takes another life?” stated Ronald Harris, the son of the victim, during an interview conducted a day prior to the arrest.
