Hallie J Helgeson Obituary, Death; – The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the identity of a Minnesota teenager who tragically lost her life in a crash over the weekend on I-90.
Hallie J. Helgeson, aged 18, was declared deceased at the scene on Sunday in the Town of Vienna.
Initial findings from a forensic examination indicate that the Montevideo teen succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident.
Further testing is currently in progress.
The Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a report of a potential head-on collision involving injuries, entrapment, and a fire shortly after midnight.
Authorities report that an SUV, believed to have been traveling the wrong way—southbound in the northbound lanes—collided with another vehicle and became completely engulfed in flames.
The passenger of the compact SUV that was struck was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver was airlifted by UW MedFlight due to injuries.
The driver of the SUV was also transported to the hospital with injuries and subsequently arrested for Operating While Impaired (OWI).
The State Patrol indicated that a reconstruction of the fatal crash was performed, and during the investigation, a secondary collision occurred on the southbound side of the interstate. Officials reported that a sedan collided with a DeForest Police squad car parked on the left shoulder.
The unoccupied squad car was fully illuminated with emergency lights and was stationary, as per the State Patrol.
Both occupants of the sedan were taken to the hospital with injuries. Following the investigation, the driver was also arrested for OWI.
