Brendon Keys Obituary, Death; – The Jackson police are currently on the lookout for a pickup truck that was involved in a collision resulting in the death of 22-year-old Brendon Keys.
Keys lost his life when the four-wheeler he was riding in was hit by two pickup trucks early Sunday morning on Gallatin Street, close to Interstate 20. The driver of the four-wheeler sustained critical injuries during the incident.
A makeshift memorial has been established near the site of the crash to pay tribute to Keys. Jamal Rizki, the manager at Byram Motorsports Shop, which sells all-terrain vehicles, commented on the situation.
“These vehicles should not be regarded as toys. They are robust machines with significant power,” Rizki stated.
He further explained that ATVs are not permitted on public roads and should never be operated on highways. He emphasized that these vehicles come with specific age and speed limitations and cautioned owners against allowing passengers.
“It is essential for most parents to learn from these occurrences and to impose restrictions on their children’s riding activities,” Rizki advised.
Surveillance footage reviewed by 16 WAPT News reveals a white pickup truck colliding head-on with the four-wheeler, propelling it into a dark SUV before it came to rest on the opposite side of the highway. The footage suggests that the driver departed the scene approximately five minutes later, despite having approached the injured individuals in the four-wheeler.
“As unfortunate as it may be, it appears that even though the children should not have been on the road, it seems they were not at fault if they were struck by a third vehicle or something similar,” Rizki remarked.
