Leroy Manogiamanu Obituary, Death;- Authorities have identified the individual who was fatally shot in downtown Anchorage early Sunday as 23-year-old Leroy Manogiamanu.
The shooting resulted in multiple injuries to other individuals. It took place on a block that houses the Gaslight bar, various retail establishments, and the headquarters of the Anchorage Police Department.
On Monday, police officials did not promptly answer inquiries regarding the status of the suspect, specifically whether he was still at large.
Officers arrived shortly before 3 a.m. in response to reports of gunfire in the 700 block of West Fourth Avenue, as detailed in a police update on Sunday. Upon arrival, officers discovered Manogiamanu deceased, another individual with life-threatening injuries, and a third person who was injured but in a less serious condition. A fourth individual was subsequently located with injuries that were not deemed life-threatening, according to police reports.
A spokesperson for the police did not quickly address questions concerning the precise location of the shooting, whether the suspect had been apprehended or injured, or the number of people present in the vicinity at the time of the incident.
Social media reports depicted a scene of chaos, with bystanders seeking shelter, followed by a significant police presence and numerous victims receiving medical assistance outside.
