Napoleon Perez Obituary, Death; – The person found dead in the Shetucket River near a public boat launch in Lisbon Saturday has been identified as a Norwich man, according to Connecticut State Police.
State police identified the man as Napoleon Perez, 33. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Monday afternoon Perez’s cause of death is pending further studies, while the manner is pending an investigation.
“This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and there is no threat to the public at this time,” state police said.
The Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Unit is investigating the death as suspicious in nature, state police said. They said the autopsy was scheduled to take place on Sunday.
On Saturday, police said troopers were called to an area near a public boat launch off Riverview Drive about 1 p.m. after a hiker spotted the body in the water.
