Jinmei Gao,Jia Jin Wu Obituary, Death; – State officials have identified two individuals who lost their lives in a single-vehicle accident early Saturday morning in southeast Lubbock County.
Jinmei Gao, a 64-year-old resident of Flushing, New York, and 18-year-old Jia Jin Wu from Lubbock, were declared deceased at the scene of the incident, which was reported around 7:23 a.m. Saturday on the U.S. 84 north frontage road, approximately 0.69 miles northwest of Mimosa Avenue, as stated by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Authorities believe that Gao was operating a 2025 Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicle traveling northwest on U.S. 84 when she exited onto the north frontage road and approached a sharp curve in the road.
The vehicle was unable to navigate the curve, continued straight, and left the roadway before crashing into a stationary railcar on the tracks. The car ignited following the collision.
It has not yet been established whether either individual was wearing a seatbelt. The nature of the relationship between the two women remains unclear. Additionally, other factors that may have contributed to the accident are still under investigation.
