Rekeea Jackson-Mason Obituary, Death; – The Sangamon County Coroner has identified the woman who died following a shooting early Saturday morning.
Jim Allmon, coroner, said 36 year-old Rekeea Jackson-Mason of Chatham was pronounced dead by hospital staff at 4:08 a.m., shortly after she arrived at the emergency room.
An autopsy was done on Sunday, and Allmon said his preliminary findings indicate that Jackson-Mason died from a gunshot wound. The Sangamon County Coroner and the Springfield Police Department continue to investigate.
On July 19 at approximately 3:30 a.m., Springfield Police responded to a home on Holly Drive in Springfield. There, they found a female victim, later identified as Jackson-Mason, with a gunshot wound. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Springfield Police at 217-788-8311.
