Toka Flickinger Obituary, Death; – The Kansas State Fire Marshal (KSFM) has released the identity of a deadly house fire victim in Auburn.
In a news release, the KSFM identified the victim as 47-year-old Toka Flickinger. Fire investigators say she died after becoming trapped in an intentionally set house fire in Auburn on July 17.
The fire was reported just after 6:30 p.m. in the 500 block of North School Street in Auburn. Fire crews from Shawnee County Fire District #2 responded to the fire.
The KSFM reported that the Auburn Police Department initially responded to the home on a domestic-related call. A man in the house had left the residence with some children before the police arrived.
Police learned that 15 minutes after the man left, a neighbor called 911 to report a house on fire. Police responded to the situation and tried to save the woman, later identified as Flickinger, but were unable to get to her location inside a bathroom in the home.
The KSFM said the fire is considered an act of arson. Investigators found multiple places inside the home were set on fire, just outside the bathroom where the woman was trapped.
Lance Feyh with KSFM told 27 News police are not looking for any suspects in connection with this deadly fire at this time. He said no arrests have been made yet and doesn’t expect any arrests to come soon in connection with the fatal fire. An autopsy is scheduled to take place next week for Flickinger.
