William Chapman Obituary, Death; Pedestrian killed by suspected impaired driver in south Fort Worth, police say

William Chapman Obituary, Death; –  63-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a suspected impaired driver Friday morning, and the suspect is in custody, police said.

More than a dozen police units responded to the crash at 5300 McCart Ave. starting about 6:15 a.m. The injured man was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries, officials said.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as William Chapman and will officially determine his cause and manner of death. The driver accused of hitting Chapman, 55-year-old Charles Williams, was booked into the Fort Worth City Jail on Friday morning. He faces charges of intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle, possession of marijuana and unlawful carrying of a weapon, the police report states.

Detectives from the Traffic Investigation Unit are looking into the details surrounding the fatal crash, police said.
