Sinay Leon-Montoya Obituary, Death; – Wichita police reported that the woman who was fatally injured following a domestic disturbance in west Wichita on Thursday was the one who made the initial 911 call.
Sinay Leon-Montoya, aged 27, dialed 911 at approximately 2:15 p.m. from the 6300 block of West Kellogg to report the disturbance. Authorities indicated that a language barrier complicated communication with the dispatchers.
Following the call, Leon-Montoya departed from that location and returned to an apartment on W. Par Lane, where she was subsequently stabbed to death. This apartment complex is situated near Central and Ridge.
Police arrived at around 2:35 p.m. and discovered a woman with a cut or stab wound; she was transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Within the apartment, law enforcement located the 25-year-old suspect, identified in Sedgwick County Jail booking reports as Edward Millan-Volcan, along with Leon-Montoya, who had sustained stab wounds.
Leon-Montoya was taken to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Authorities stated that Leon-Montoya and Millan-Volcan shared children who were present during the incident. The second victim, a 25-year-old woman, is currently hospitalized and in stable condition.
The suspect has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of kidnapping, and two counts of aggravated child endangerment.
