Juanita Jones Obituary, Death; – A Shelby County Grand Jury has found Roy Ezell Jones guilty of second‑degree murder for the fatal shooting of his wife, 49‑year‑old Juanita Jones.
In January 2022, law enforcement responded to a domestic dispute on Burnham Avenue, where they found Juanita unresponsive after a gunshot was heard by a child in another room.
The victim’s husband, later identified as Roy Ezell Jones, reportedly confessed to the child, stating, “I did a bad thing.” He left the scene and was arrested one week later after surrendering to authorities.
The case included testimony from several witnesses, including the child who heard the gunshot from the adjacent room. After deliberation, the jury delivered a guilty verdict on one count of second-degree murder. Sentencing for Jones is scheduled for a later date.
