Yessenia Estrada Arrested; – A woman from San Jose was apprehended on charges of arson and homicide following the discovery of a deceased individual within a structure that had been intentionally ignited, as reported by police on Tuesday.
On Sunday, shortly before 4 a.m., officers from the San Jose Police Department responded to a fire at a commercial property located in the 200 block of North 27th Street. Investigators suspected that the fire was set deliberately.
The individual accused of arson was identified as 35-year-old Yessenia Estrada, a resident of San Jose, and a warrant for her arrest was issued.
Authorities discovered that an employee of the business was expected to be present during the fire but could not be located. Due to the building’s compromised structure from the fire, a search for potential victims could not be conducted at that moment, according to police. Nevertheless, first responders were convinced that someone remained inside. Homicide detectives were summoned to the location.
On Monday, officers, in conjunction with urban search and rescue teams, located a deceased individual within the building. Estrada was apprehended by patrolling officers and subsequently booked into jail on charges of arson and homicide.
The motive and details surrounding the incident have not been revealed.
