DaJon Ryans Obituary, Death; – A man who was killed in a shooting last week in Ypsilanti has been identified as a father of four.
DaJon Ryans, 25, was fatally shot on Friday, July 11, near the intersection of Ecorse Road and Towner Street in Ypsilanti, as confirmed by police on Wednesday.
Ryans was born and raised in the West Willow neighborhood of Ypsilanti and is a father of four, according to his sister, Paris Knight. He was described as a “loving, wild child” who was dedicated to his family, as stated in a GoFundMe campaign set up to support his family.
“His sudden passing has left his immediate family in profound sorrow, and his children now confront the challenging reality of growing up without their father,” the fundraiser states. “The loss has had a dramatic impact on everyone who loved him.”
A 27-year-old man from Washtenaw County has been arrested in connection with the homicide, according to police.
Police received a call around 7:45 p.m. on July 11 regarding a gunshot victim who had arrived at Trinity Health in Ypsilanti, as reported by the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office. Initial investigations indicated that the shooting occurred near Ecorse Road and Towner Street, according to police.
Authorities are seeking information regarding a related incident that took place at McDonald’s, located at 16 Ecorse Road, which is less than 1,000 feet from the shooting site. Police have not provided further details about that incident.
