Avion Amelle Dingle Obituary, Death; – A 15-year-old has been apprehended, weeks after a teenager lost his life due to a shooting at a northeast Charlotte apartment.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police arrived at an apartment complex located on Merrick Street, just off North Tryon Street near Old Concord Road, shortly before 10:30 p.m. on June 26. Officers at the scene discovered a 15-year-old boy who had sustained gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the location.
The preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect fired into an occupied residence, resulting in the fatal shooting of the teenager, later identified as Avion Amelle Dingle. The same CMPD report mentioned that a 30-year-old woman and four other individuals, aged between 3 and 14, were present during the incident.
Following the investigation, CMPD identified a 15-year-old suspect, who was arrested on July 10 and charged with murder. The identity of the suspect has not been disclosed.
