Nicholas Howell Obituary, Death; – A woman from Huntsville, who is facing murder charges, wishes to present a case for immunity; however, she may not have the opportunity to do so until after the indictment process.
Amber Baker is charged with the shooting death of 22-year-old Nicholas Howell on June 16. According to court documents, she asserts that she acted in self-defense when she shot him. Her attorney, Larry Marsili, presented this argument before a district judge, but prosecutors countered, asserting that the matter of immunity should be addressed in circuit court.
The judge instructed both parties to submit written arguments within the next five days. A similar dispute occurred last year involving Marsili and the state, during which Marsili represented Jeremiah Matkins. Matkins contends that he shot a man in self-defense at the Twin Peaks on University.
His case currently remains in legal uncertainty as a higher court deliberates on whether he is entitled to an immunity hearing.
