Joseph Cunningham Obituary, Death; – The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has confirmed the identity of a contractor who was fatally injured last week at a construction site for Sherwin-Williams located on West 3rd Street.
Cleveland police responded to the site in the 1300 block of West 3rd Street shortly after midnight on Friday. Cleveland EMS and firefighters were already present at the location, where a man was discovered underneath a tow motor he had been operating, as reported by Cleveland police.
Emergency Medical Services personnel declared the man deceased at the scene. He has been identified as Joseph Cunningham, aged 48. Julie Young, the vice president of communications for Sherwin-Williams, released a statement on Friday that stated:
“We are deeply saddened to announce that shortly after midnight this morning, a laborer employed by a site services trade contractor was fatally injured in an accident involving a forklift. Emergency response was promptly alerted and arrived quickly at the scene. Fortunately, no other individuals were harmed. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues. Safety is our utmost priority, and we are committed to supporting a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of this incident.”
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has confirmed that it is conducting an investigation into the incident. Additionally, the Cleveland police Accident Investigation Unit is also examining the matter.
