Israel Uriegas Obituary, Death; – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a man who was shot and killed at an apartment complex last weekend. The office reported that Israel Uriegas, 38, succumbed to at least one gunshot wound. His death has been classified as a homicide.
According to a preliminary report from the San Antonio Police Department, Uriegas was seated in a vehicle with a woman at the apartment complex early on July 5, located in the 2400 block of Northeast Loop 410 near Perrin Beitel.
Officers stated that a suspect attempted to open one of the vehicle’s doors before opening fire on Uriegas. The victim was shot multiple times and was subsequently pronounced dead between two vehicles at the scene, as noted in the SAPD report.
The woman informed the police that the suspect fled the crime scene in an unknown direction. In a news release issued on Wednesday afternoon to reporters, the department and Crime Stoppers announced a reward of up to $5,000 for any information that could lead to an arrest in this case.
The Wednesday afternoon update also characterized Uriegas’ death as a “capital murder” case. Anyone with information related to the murder is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP (7867). In its preliminary report on Saturday, SAPD indicated that its investigation is still ongoing.
