Parris Windham Obituary, Death; – Family members have identified 41-year-old father Parris Windham as the individual who was killed in a suspected DUI hit-and-run incident early Monday morning in North Natomas.

He was struck around 2 a.m. in the vicinity of Town Center Drive and Del Paso Road by a driver who was under the influence and fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement, as reported by authorities.

Officers discovered a man lying in the road after responding to reports of a vehicle colliding with a pedestrian. He was declared dead at the scene, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Windham has not yet been officially identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. “Parris was so much more than words,” stated Ashley Oliver, the mother of one of his children. “He was much more than moments. He was a true gem to this world.”

Oliver initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral expenses for Windham, who was a senior premium server at Golden 1 Center, fathering nine children and being a grandfather to two.

His family mentioned that to raise additional funds, they are organizing a car wash and selling food plates and baked goods daily over the next two weeks from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Safeway parking lot located at Town Center Drive and Del Paso Road.

Who was Parris Windham?
Windham, also referred to as “IMac,” will be remembered for his lengthy conversations and a touch of sarcasm, according to his family.

“His discussions, they get really deep and last a long time,” remarked his eldest daughter, Empriss-Monroe Windham. His second daughter, Dutchess Indoneisha Windham, shared a similar thought.

“I’m going to miss his brief little chats that inevitably turn into extensive lectures,” she expressed. Andre Avent, Windham’s older brother, noted that they often engaged in numerous debates, yet Windham remained humble and polite.

“He’s going to debate. He’s going to argue his point and I’m going to argue my point, that’s how we connect,” Avent stated. Avent and Windham reportedly grew closer over the past seven years. “He taught me a lot,” he reflected on his brother. “He taught me to be patient with how I navigate through life with certainty.

Empriss-Monroe Windham said her dad was her best friend, her everything and a playful person who would often play-fight or tickle.

“I’m going to miss how when we’re leaving somewhere, he’ll be like, ‘We’re going to leave in 15 minutes.’ It turned into a whole other hour, a whole more couple, couple, couple hours,” she said. Dutchess Indoneisha Windham said she’ll miss her dad’s presence and how strict he was.  “I’m going to miss how he always stood up for us and stuff, like he always calmed us down when we needed to be calmed down,” she said.

She was supposed to go on a trip to Los Angeles with her dad later this month, she said. Roberson said Windham leaves behind grandsons, uncles, brothers, sisters and a cousin, and he wasn’t the average person because he was there for his community. “I’m not saying he was always perfect, but he definitely tried,” she said.

Who was the alleged driver?

Police said they detained the hit-and-run driver the morning of the crash after tracking down the suspect vehicle. Jasdeep Singh, 25, of Sacramento, was then arrested and eight hours after the crash booked into Sacramento County Main Jail. He faces a felony hit-and-run charge and a misdemeanor charge of driving while knowing that privilege is suspended due to a DUI, corrections records show.

Singh is expected to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Sacramento County Superior Court. Relatives said they want justice, but in addition to prayers for Windham, Oliver said the family prays for Singh.
