Sunshine Stewart Obituary, Death; – Investigators are seeking assistance from the public following the murder of a paddleboarder from Maine who was found deceased last week.

At approximately 1 a.m. on July 3, Maine game wardens were summoned to aid the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Union Fire Department in the search for a paddleboarder who went missing while at Crawford Pond, as stated in a press release from the Maine State Police (MSP).

The search ultimately resulted in the finding of female human remains, and the nature of the death prompted officials to enlist the help of the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit Central. The deceased has been identified as 48-year-old Sunshine Stewart from the nearby Tenants Harbor, according to MSP.

An autopsy determined that Stewart was a homicide victim, although the specific cause of death has not been disclosed.

The pond is a well-known fishing spot in the region, with a maximum depth of 57 feet, as reported by the U.S. Geological Survey.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to Stewart’s death to reach out to the Maine State Police by calling (207)-624-7076.
