Brett Peters Obituary, Death; – The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed one person died in a rollover crash Wednesday.

Chief Deputy Aaron Smith said first responders were called to the area of Highway 34 near Sunset Terrace Road around 4:45 p.m. That’s near the bridge over the Platte River. Emergency crews located a white van on its roof on the side of the road.

Chief Deputy Smith said the rollover happened when it was raining heavily at the time. He said the road surface can become slick as it’s a newer one. Chief Deputy Smith said the van, heading westbound, had hydroplaned, fish-tailed and then rolled. The van hit a mailbox and a tree before landing on its top.

The vehicle’s driver died at the scene. The sheriff’s office identified him as Brett Peters, of Central City. A passenger in the vehicle was uninjured.
