Sofia Christensen,Nolan Christensen Obituary, Death; – Two teenagers lost their lives following a collision with a freightliner early Monday morning in Wise County, according to officials.
Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the traffic incident at approximately 6:44 a.m. on U.S. Highway 380 at the intersection with CR 4011 in Decatur, as stated in a news release from DPS officials.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a 1994 blue Ford F150 attempted to cross Hwy. 380 from CR 4011 and pulled in front of a 2005 Freightliner that was towing a trailer.
Subsequently, the Freightliner collided with the Ford, causing it to jackknife and overturn, as reported by officials, before coming to a stop in the center median of Hwy. 380. The Ford then slid into the grass off the south shoulder.
The driver of the Ford, identified by DPS officials as 16-year-old Sofia Christensen, was transported to a hospital in Denton where she succumbed to her injuries. The front passenger of the Ford, 13-year-old Nolan Christensen, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.
The rear passenger of the Ford, 12-year-old Ella Christensen, was taken to a hospital in Fort Worth, with her condition remaining unknown as of Monday evening. The driver of the Freightliner, identified as 33-year-old Jose Feliz Rodriguez, received treatment for minor injuries, as per the release.
No further information has been provided; however, officials have stated that the investigation is ongoing.
