Zeyad Shammo Obituary, Death; – The Winnipeg Police Service has announced that two individuals have been charged in relation to the death of 22-year-old Zeyad Shammo.
Authorities responded to a report concerning a missing person at approximately 7:45 p.m. on September 10, located on Bridge Lake Drive near Red Spruce Road. It is suspected that the individual was abducted the day prior.
In the early hours of September 13, investigators discovered the deceased near Bristol Avenue and Rue St. Luc. The deceased was later confirmed to be Shammo, who was originally from Ontario. Following this, the Winnipeg Police Service initiated a homicide investigation, identifying two suspects known to the victim.
Both suspects were apprehended and subsequently charged. The individuals, 26-year-old Sonny Balemba and 26-year-old Robert James Chaykowski, face charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping, and extortion. Additionally, Chaykowski has been charged with four counts of failing to comply with a release order.
