John Marczak Obituary, Death; West Hartford Police: Pedestrian Struck on South Main Street Has Died Due to Injuries

John Marczak Obituary, Death; – A pedestrian who fell victim to a hit-and-run incident on South Main Street during the early hours of June 7, 2025, has succumbed to the severe injuries he incurred, according to West Hartford Police.

In an email dated June 16, Assistant Chief Larry Terra confirmed the identity of the victim as John Marczak, 44, from Plainville. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner informed West Hartford Police that Marczak passed away at 4:50 a.m. on June 10.

Initially, police reported that a passerby discovered a pedestrian, now recognized as Marczak, unresponsive in the roadway close to 202 South Main Street at 2:04 a.m. on Saturday, June 7. The victim received immediate medical attention for injuries classified as “serious” and was subsequently transported to a local hospital.

Authorities found indications of motor vehicle involvement in the incident; however, the “offending vehicle” was absent from the scene, they stated.

The West Hartford Police Accident Reconstruction Team is conducting the investigation into the incident. Police managed to acquire surveillance footage, which led to the identification of the suspect vehicle and driver, who was arrested later on Saturday, June 7, through a warrant, as reported by Capt. Aaron Vafiades.

Juan Pablo Novoa, 22, from Cromwell, faces charges of evading responsibility resulting in serious physical injury, obstructing view, and tampering with physical evidence. As per online court records, he was released from custody after posting a $500,000 surety bond and is set to enter a plea in Hartford Superior Court on July 14.

As noted in his obituary, Marczak, a former resident of Newington, was a graduate of the Fox Institute and had been employed as a senior full stack software developer. He is survived by his daughters, Ariana and Giana Marczak; his mother, Julia LaFlamme; his sisters, Tamara LaFlamme and Kathleen Conniff along with her husband Chris; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
