Burlie Dawson Locklear Obituary, Death; – On Monday, law enforcement continued their efforts to locate a suspect involved in the fatal shooting of a teenage employee at a Waffle House in North Carolina. The victim, identified by authorities as Burlie Dawson Locklear, had recently completed his high school education, according to family members. The incident occurred on Friday at a Waffle House location in Laurinburg, a city situated in Scotland County near the border with South Carolina.
At approximately 12:45 a.m., officers from the Laurinburg Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at the establishment known for its breakfast offerings. The police are seeking assistance from the public in identifying the suspect, who reportedly fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement. Upon entering the restaurant, officers discovered Locklear, an 18-year-old employee, suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was subsequently transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Initial investigations indicate that the suspect arrived in a dark grey vehicle, potentially a 2014 Chevrolet model. After placing an order, the suspect became increasingly agitated and verbally abusive while waiting for his food. Following the completion of his order, the suspect exited the restaurant, approached his vehicle, and discharged two shots towards the establishment, striking Locklear before fleeing the scene.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Authorities have described the suspect as a Black male with light skin, long dreadlocks, and facial hair, including a beard and mustache.
