Anthony V Senzarino,Diane F Senzarino, Obituary, Death; – A husband and wife who perished in a house fire in Cicero on Saturday night have been identified by law enforcement.
The deceased couple is Anthony V. Senzarino, aged 81, and Diane F. Senzarino, aged 75, as confirmed by Cicero Police Chief Steve Rotunno to syracuse.com on Monday. Both individuals lost their lives in the fire that occurred within their residence at 8073 Crockett Dr.
At approximately 6:45 p.m., firefighters arrived at the scene of the fire where the couple was trapped inside. Firefighters managed to breach the front door of the residence, where they discovered Diane Senzarino, according to Jim Perrin, the Cicero fire chief. She was declared dead at the scene, he stated.
Due to intense flames and extreme heat, firefighters were unable to reach Anthony Senzarino, Perrin noted. He was subsequently located at the entrance to the kitchen and garage, where he was also pronounced dead at the scene, he added. A third occupant of the home, the victims’ 24-year-old blind grandson, managed to escape the house unharmed.
The grandson detected the smell of smoke and navigated through the home by feeling the walls and sensing the variations in temperature, Perrin explained.
When the fire crews arrived, they observed significant flames emanating from the attached garage, Perrin reported. The fire had spread to the first floor of the residence, he indicated.
