Jaheil Dyiir Thompson Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified the victim killed in an Anderson County shooting on Friday as a Newberry County man.
The Anderson County Coroner’s Office said the shooting was reported just after 3:30 a.m. at an apartment on Glenwood Street in Belton. County deputies and first responders arrived at the scene, where the victim was announced dead.
Coroner Greg Shore later identified the victim as 23-year-old Jaheil Dyiir Thompson on Newberry. The coroner’s office said the victim was shot multiple times in the chest following a fight with another person at the Glenwood Street home.
Officials said preliminary information suggests this was an isolated incident and there is no known threat to the public. An autopsy has already been conducted, and the death is being investigated by the coroner and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office as a homicide.
