Kenneth Mobley Obituary, Death; – Family members have identified the individual who was fatally shot on Wednesday in the parking lot of Copeland’s restaurant located on Jacksonville’s Southside.

The deceased has been named by his family as 38-year-old Kenneth Mobley.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) responded to reports of a shooting at the restaurant situated at the intersection of Southside Boulevard and Touchton Road. This incident led to a significant police presence, including a JSO helicopter, drone, and K-9 units observed at the location.

Officers discovered Mobley with a gunshot wound to his chest. Mobley was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. According to JSO, Mobley was present to meet someone, although the purpose of the meeting remains unclear.

Three individuals have been detained for questioning; however, it is uncertain if any of them were the shooter. JSO stated on Wednesday that it is working to ascertain their connection to the victim. JSO is also on the lookout for a black or dark-colored four-door vehicle, potentially a Nissan, that was seen at the scene.

Yana Royter, an employee at a nearby coffee shop named Brass Tacks, which is located two buildings away from Copeland’s, reported that two of her coworkers rushed back inside upon hearing the gunfire.

“It all kind of happened so fast. I had only been here for 15 minutes, like it was the very start of my shift, and at first I was like, what’s going on? Then we were kind of nosy, and we went outside to go look, then we came back inside and locked the back door just in case, because we weren’t sure about what the situation was. But yeah, it was definitely really scary, and I’m really glad that they responded so quickly and ran back inside,” Royter recounted.
