Travis C Decker Obituary, Death; – Authorities in Chelan County, Washington, are currently engaged in a search for Travis C. Decker following the discovery of the bodies of his three children near his abandoned vehicle on Monday. Recent documents have shed light on the cause of death of the three children.
This discovery came after a report from Decker’s ex-wife, Whitney D. Decker, who notified the Wenatchee Police Department when Travis did not return their children according to a court-mandated parenting plan. Whitney expressed her concerns to the Wenatchee Police Department, highlighting Decker’s recent mental health struggles and his unstable housing situation.
A warrant for Decker’s arrest was issued on June 2, after he failed to return the children at several scheduled times. Authorities employed various resources, including cellphone records and license plate readers, in their attempts to locate Decker and the children.
On June 2, the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office discovered Decker’s vehicle unoccupied near Rock Island Campground in Leavenworth, Washington. Close by, the bodies of three children were found, believed to be Decker’s children, based on their clothing and their proximity to the vehicle.
The investigation uncovered indications of a recent campsite in the vicinity, and evidence at the scene included zip ties and plastic bags. Preliminary examinations indicate that the children died from asphyxiation, as each had a bag placed over their head. The Chelan County Coroner subsequently confirmed the identities of the children, who were aged 9, 8, and 5 years.
The Chelan County Superior Court has issued a warrant for Decker’s arrest on charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding Decker’s whereabouts to contact law enforcement without delay.
