Jessica Garza Herrera Obituary, Death;- The California Highway Patrol is seeking assistance in identifying the driver of a white vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run incident last month, which resulted in the death of a woman from Davis.
Jessica Garza Herrera, aged 31, was struck and killed by the vehicle on the morning of May 11 while she was on eastbound Interstate 80, as reported by the chief deputy coroner of Yolo County.
According to the CHP Woodland office, investigators suspect that the vehicle in question is a white Hyundai Elantra manufactured between 2016 and 2018. It is alleged that the driver of this Hyundai struck Herrera, who was a pedestrian at the time.
Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the event, possesses relevant information, or was involved to contact the CHP Woodland office at 530-702-6250.
Herrera completed her degree in women’s and gender studies at Sacramento State in 2021 and was enrolled again to pursue a master’s degree in gender equity studies when the tragic incident occurred, as stated in a verified GoFundMe campaign seeking donations for her funeral costs.
The fundraiser, organized by Herrera’s sister, states, “Jessica was passionate about helping others and had aspirations to assist women involved in the criminal justice system.”
