Noel E. Gonzalez Obituary, Death; – A 49-year-old man from Waterbury lost his life in a motorcycle collision on Route 34 on Friday night, according to state police reports. The victim has been identified as Noel E. Gonzalez by the Connecticut State Police.
Authorities indicated that Gonzalez’s motorcycle collided with the rear of another motorcycle operated by a man from New Haven as they neared the intersection of Route 34, also known as Derby Avenue, and South Orange Street at approximately 11:09 p.m.
Both riders were thrown from their motorcycles, skidding across the roadway and impacting a raised traffic island, as per police accounts. Gonzalez succumbed to his injuries at Yale-New Haven Hospital, while the New Haven motorcyclist sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, according to police statements. Additionally, the incident resulted in damage to two traffic control signals. Witnesses to the accident are urged to reach out to Connecticut State Police Troop G at 203-696-2500.
