Debra Balance Jones Obituary, Death; – On Thursday, May 29, 2025, at approximately 8 p.m. Pamlico County deputies received a report that an individual had been shot and possibly killed at a residence in the Vandemere community of Pamlico County.
Deputies responded to the location where they discovered the body of Debra Balance Jones, 62 of Vandemere, inside her residence deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
Investigators identified William Earl Toler, Jr. 48 also of Vandemere as a suspect in the death of Jones. Toler was taken into custody without incident and has been confined to the Pamlico County Detention Center. Toler has been charged with one open count of Murder and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Toler is scheduled to make his first appearance in Pamlico County District Court this morning.
