Omega McDaniels Obituary, Death; – Two individuals who were apprehended assert that the shooting which resulted in the death of 21-year-old Omega McDaniels was an act of self-defense, as reported by the Phoenix Police Department.
Law enforcement officials were summoned to the vicinity of 19th Avenue and Buckeye Road shortly after 4:30 a.m. on May 27 in response to a shooting incident. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a man who had sustained gunshot wounds, later identified as Omega McDaniels.
Emergency responders transported McDaniels to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The police successfully identified two men as suspects in this shooting and subsequently took them into custody. Both individuals informed the officers that the shooting was an act of self-defense.
The two suspects were later released. Authorities continue to investigate this case. It will be forwarded to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office once the investigation concludes. No additional information regarding the shooting has been disclosed.
McDaniels was recognized as the sibling of Christopher Hampton by one of Hampton’s former football coaches. Hampton tragically passed away in 2023 after drowning in Show Low Lake during a trip to a football camp with his teammates and coaches from Cesar Chavez High School. The father of Hampton and McDaniels also shares the name Omega McDaniels.
