Blake Rutledge Obituary, Death; – Authorities have released the identity of a 27-year-old man who was killed in a shooting at a Hesperia home last week.
Blake Rutledge of Hesperia died in the shooting, which took place about 6:15 a.m. Friday, May 23, in the 16000 block of Sequoia Street, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff’s officials first responded to the neighborhood after received a report of “shots fired,” authorities said.
“When deputies arrived and entered the residence, they located a male, identified as Blake Rutledge,” the agency said in a written statement. The victim, who had been shot, died from his wounds at the scene.
Investigators learned several people fled from the home just after the shooting, law enforcement officials said. Deputies searched the area, but no suspects were found. Rutledge is survived by two sons, five siblings and his parents, according to a statement from sister Alisha Montano accompanying an online fundraiser set up to help with funeral expenses.
Blake was the most amazing person you could have met, and you’d be incredibly lucky if you had ever met or crossed paths with him,” according Montano. “He was such a solid person and would help anyone who asked him. You need something, ask Blake, and he would be there. There is no other person in this world like him, and he will be deeply missed and loved by all who knew him.”
