Karen Yvonne Watkins Obituary, Death; – A woman from Norfolk has been identified as the victim of a shooting that occurred on Sunday night in Newport News.
According to police reports, 37-year-old Karen Yvonne Watkins of Norfolk was shot near the intersection of 27th Street and Wickham Avenue, located in the East End area of the city. Officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 11:21 p.m. on Sunday following an activation of the ShotSpotter system.
This system is specifically designed to detect the sound of gunfire and pinpoint its location. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Watkins with at least one gunshot wound. She succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital.
