Deputy Daniel Sherrer Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified the individual suspected of fatally shooting a deputy from Morrow County on Monday evening.
The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office has named the suspect as 53-year-old Brian Michael Wilson, who faces charges of aggravated murder in connection with the death of Deputy Daniel Sherrer.
“We stand in solidarity with Sheriff John Hinton, the entire Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, and the community of Morrow County. In addition to investigating this tragic event, we, as fellow peace officers, will continue to provide support to our thin blue line family,” stated Delaware County Sheriff Jeff Balzer.
Sherrer was shot while responding to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of County Road 26, as reported by Morrow County Sheriff John Hinton. The deputy was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Wilson was also shot and is currently hospitalized in serious condition. The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that Wilson is in their custody.
The circumstances leading up to the gunfire remain unclear. Sheriff Hinton mentioned that he has not yet reviewed the body camera footage from the incident. The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation with support from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
“We share in the mourning of our neighbors and colleagues at the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office as they cope with the loss of one of their own, who was shot and killed in the line of duty on Monday evening. With the assistance of the Ohio BCI, we are looking into this tragic incident,” the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office expressed in a statement on social media.
Details regarding Sherrer’s funeral arrangements have yet to be finalized.
