Stephanie Barr Obituary, Death; – Authorities reported that a man was arrested for allegedly murdering a woman south of downtown Phoenix on Saturday.
William Washington, aged 53, was taken into custody for reportedly stabbing and killing 35-year-old Stephanie Barr, as stated by the Phoenix Police Department.
Officers responded to reports of a stabbing incident at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday evening in the vicinity of 2400 S. Central Ave.
Upon their arrival at the scene, police discovered an adult female, later identified as Barr, who was suffering from a stab wound. She was transported to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, according to authorities.
Patrol officers reportedly initiated a search of the area surrounding the stabbing site, located Washington, and subsequently apprehended him without incident. Homicide detectives then arrived to take over the investigation.
According to the Phoenix Police, it was revealed that Washington had been engaged in an argument with another man when he brandished a knife; Barr attempted to intervene and was subsequently stabbed. Washington has been booked into jail on charges of second-degree murder. This investigation is ongoing. No further information has been released.
