Luvina McCann Obituary, Death; – Family members have identified the young mother who was shot and killed on Flint’s west side three weeks ago, urging the public to come forward with any information regarding her assailant.

According to family members, 18-year-old Luvina McCann was declared dead due to gunshot wounds sustained in the 2600 block of Thomas Street at approximately 2:05 a.m. on April 27. Her mother, Marquita Powers, reported that she was shot five times.
At the time of her death, McCann was 13 weeks pregnant and left behind an 8-month-old daughter, as stated by Powers. She mentioned that McCann was out with friends that evening to celebrate their prom sendoff when they decided to stop at a house party on Thomas Street. The Flint Police Department indicated that an altercation erupted involving several young individuals.
The confrontation escalated into gunfire, resulting in McCann sustaining fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene. “The pain is unbearable knowing that she was taken from us in such a senseless act of violence,” Powers expressed. Flint police have yet to disclose any arrests or suspect details as the investigation remains ongoing three weeks later.
