Destiny Quintanilla Obituary, Death; – A 19-year-old woman was struck and killed by a suspected intoxicated driver on a North Texas highway Thursday night, according to officials.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on U.S. 277 close to Ramhorn Hill Road, as stated in a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

A 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling northbound on the highway when it collided with a 2008 Toyota Camry and a 2009 Honda Accord that were parked on the roadside. The Cherokee also struck a pedestrian who was standing near the Camry, officials reported.

The pedestrian, identified as 19-year-old Destiny Quintanilla from Grand Prairie, was transported to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, according to the release.

The driver of the Cherokee, identified as 58-year-old Alan Schutt from Boyd, attempted to flee the scene on foot but was apprehended by authorities, officials stated. The driver of the Camry was taken to a hospital and subsequently released.

State troopers later concluded that Schutt was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, as per the news release. He is facing charges of intoxication manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid resulting in death.
