Pernell Irvin Wofford Obituary, Death; – On Tuesday morning, a pedestrian was fatally struck along Interstate 26, as reported by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The incident occurred shortly before 6 a.m. in the westbound lanes near mile marker 44, close to the Highway 49 exit. This section of the interstate was closed during the investigation.
The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased as 60-year-old Pernell Irvin Wofford from Spartanburg. According to the coroner, Wofford had exited his vehicle after a prior collision and was subsequently hit by another driver who was trying to avoid his car, which was positioned in the middle of the interstate.
