Jesse Owens Obituary, Death; – The man killed Sunday night in a motorcycle crash near downtown Rockford has been identified. The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office says 42-year-old Jesse Owens, of Roscoe, died in the crash that happened just after 8 p.m. Sunday.
A release from the Coroner’s Office says an autopsy found Owens died of blunt trauma of the head due to the crash. Early results from the investigation show Owens lost control of his motorcycle while driving north on Madison St. First responders found him seriously injured on the ground and took him to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Rockford Police and the Winnebago County Coroner are continuing to investigate the crash and Owens’ death.
