Jacob Eichhorn Arrested; – On Friday night, a vehicle struck and fatally injured a 4-year-old child, leading to the driver’s arrest. Shortly before 10 p.m., law enforcement and emergency medical services were called to the 600 block of Bancroft Street in Garden City following multiple reports of an unresponsive individual.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered the unresponsive child on a trailer, alongside a Chrysler 200 located in a nearby front yard. The child was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Chrysler, identified as Jacob Eichhorn, 32, fled the scene but was apprehended by local residents who detained him until emergency personnel arrived. The investigation indicated that Eichhorn was traveling southbound on Bancroft Street when he collided with a trailer parked along the roadside, causing the vehicle to become airborne before landing in a yard.
The 4-year-old boy was on the trailer at the time of the collision. Further inquiries revealed that Eichhorn exhibited signs of impairment, resulting in his arrest. He is currently being held at the Finney County Jail on charges including Driving while suspended, Operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, Interference with law enforcement, Failure to stop at an accident, Involuntary manslaughter in the commission of another crime, and an Out of County Arrest/Warrant, as per online jail records.
