Sylvester Choi Obituary, Death; – The man who was shot and killed following an incident in Fresno earlier this week was named by the Fresno Police Department on Thursday.

Officers say 35-year-old Sylvester Choi was the man found dead following a shooting on the 3700 block of North Abby Avenue on Tuesday. Officers say they were alerted to the scene following two ShotSpotter alerts of gunfire in the area. They arrived to find Choi on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say there were two other victims involved in the incident: one who received a gunshot wound to the leg and another who was dropped off at Community Regional Medical Center in Downtown Fresno with multiple gunshot wounds.

The other two victims are both recovering from their injuries. According to the Fresno Police Department, Choi and the other two victims were at a gathering together when an unknown suspect shot at the group, with gunshots striking all three victims.

A motive for the shooting has not yet been determined. Anyone else who was at the gathering who may have witnessed the shooting is asked to contact Fresno Police Department Homicide Detective V. Miranda at 559-621-2452 or Detective J. Espinoza at 559-621-2415.
