Timothy Suniga Arrested;- Authorities have identified the individual apprehended on charges of driving under the influence following a tragic incident in which a pedestrian was struck and killed on Friday evening while attempting to cross East California Avenue.
Timothy Suniga, aged 30, was taken into custody after the collision occurred at 8:53 p.m. in the 700 block of East California Avenue, as reported by the police. He is no longer in custody. According to the Superior Court website, Suniga has no previous criminal history in Kern County. The pedestrian, whose identity has not been disclosed, was crossing the street outside of a designated crosswalk when he was struck by Suniga’s vehicle. A second vehicle, traveling in the same direction, also collided with the pedestrian. Both Suniga and the other driver remained at the scene of the accident.
Suniga was arrested after law enforcement officials determined that he was under the influence of alcohol, while speed is not considered to be a contributing factor.
