Noah Farabaugh Obituary, Death;- The 33-year-old individual who passed away while hiking in the Superstition Mountains, located east of Mesa, has been officially identified. The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Noah Farabaugh died on May 11.
He was part of a group of five hikers who encountered heat-related issues near the Wave Cave trailhead. According to the Superstition Fire and Medical District, the hikers reported being on the trail for approximately six hours. Upon the arrival of medical personnel, multiple attempts at CPR were performed on Farabaugh; however, he did not survive, as stated by the fire department.
The remaining hikers were unharmed and declined transportation to a hospital, but they were assisted down the mountain using a UTV vehicle. Authorities advised against returning to the area for the remainder of the day. The Sheriff’s Office indicated that foul play was not suspected, and the Pinal County Medical Examiner will ascertain the cause of Farabaugh’s death, with no further details anticipated to be released. On May 11, high temperatures were forecasted to reach as high as 108 degrees in several regions, with Phoenix recording 104 degrees, according to the National Weather Service office in Phoenix.
These temperature readings were reported to be 10 to 15 degrees above the average for this time of year, marking it as one of the hottest days of 2025 thus far. Helen Rummel of The Republic contributed to this report.
