Josiah Perrault Obituary, Death;- The Las Cruces Police Department has identified the individual who lost his life in the shooting incident on Walnut Street last Thursday, May 8th, as 18-year-old Josiah Perrault. Perrault succumbed to the injuries sustained during the event that took place around 6:30 a.m. on May 8, 2025, in the 900 block of Walnut Street.
Another individual believed to be involved in the incident was taken to a local hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on paid administrative leave, and his identity has not been disclosed to the public. Fortunately, the officer did not sustain any injuries. Further details regarding the shooting will not be released until the Las Cruces Police Department conducts a press conference next week, which has been postponed until May 20th.
An investigative group known as the Officer-involved Incident Task Force is looking into the shooting that occurred on May 8. This task force comprises investigators from the New Mexico State Police, the Las Cruces Police Department, the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office, and the New Mexico State University Police.
