Rene Martin Obituary, Death; – A 35-year-old man from Montgomery tragically lost his life on Sunday afternoon when his motorcycle collided with three other vehicles in Grimes County. According to Department of Public Safety Sgt. Justin Ruiz, the incident occurred around 5:23 p.m. at the intersection of State Highway 105 and Grimes County Road 417.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a 2022 Subaru Legacy was traveling west on Highway 105 when it veered into the eastbound lane, colliding with a 2022 Lincoln SUV heading east. The Lincoln came to a stop facing west in the eastbound lane, at which point a 2016 BMW motorcycle traveling east struck it head-on, resulting in a fire. A 2018 Mercedes GLC subsequently sideswiped the Lincoln.

DPS troopers reported that the motorcycle operator, identified as 35-year-old Rene Martin of Montgomery, was pronounced dead at the scene by Grimes County Justice of the Peace Lester Underwood. The driver of the Subaru was taken to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center with serious injuries, while the driver of the Lincoln was also transported to the same facility with suspected minor injuries.

The passenger in the Lincoln was taken to CHI St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Bryan with suspected minor injuries. Both the driver and passenger of the Mercedes were transported to CHI St. Joseph Regional in Bryan with suspected minor injuries. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing as of Monday.
