Demetrius Lamar Jones, Obituary, Death; – A man was found deceased from gunshot wounds in a residential neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale early Wednesday morning, and the identity of the shooter remains unknown, according to police reports.
Officers received a notification of the incident shortly after 3 a.m. in the 1300 block of Northwest Eighth Avenue via a ShotSpotter alert from SoundThinking, a company that monitors gunfire sounds. Demetrius Lamar Jones, aged 34, was discovered with gunshot injuries when law enforcement and Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue personnel arrived, as stated by Det. Ali Adamson, a spokesperson for the police department, on Thursday.
Jones was declared dead at Broward Health Medical Center. Later that day, detectives from the Homicide Unit secured a warrant to search a nearby residence that might be linked to the homicide, according to Adamson. No additional details regarding the ongoing investigation were provided, and as of Thursday afternoon, no arrests had been made.
