Robtavious Hawk Arrested; – On Wednesday, a jury delivered its verdict in the trial of a man charged with the murder of a teenager from Huntsville in Fayetteville. Robtavious Hawk was convicted of fatally shooting JaMichael Harris in 2022.
During the morning session, both the prosecution and Hawk’s defense team presented their closing arguments. Hawk’s attorney contended that he acted in self-defense; however, prosecutors argued that Hawk’s account was inconsistent with the evidence presented.
JaMichael Harris was shot and killed while seated in a vehicle, accompanied by his older brother and another teenager, both of whom sustained injuries. On Tuesday, Hawk took the stand to testify in his defense. He asserted that Harris nearly struck him with his car, followed by Harris and his brother allegedly brandishing a firearm at him.
Hawk claimed that Harris’ brother then discharged a weapon at him from the passenger seat and alleged that the teenagers attempted to steal his necklace. On Monday, Jamari Battle, Harris’ older brother, testified, identifying Robtavious Hawk as the individual who shot and killed Harris on February 13, 2022.
Investigators from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation provided testimony regarding the bullet trajectories and confirmed the recovery of two distinct types of 9mm ammunition. Hawk’s defense team maintained that he was merely defending himself against what he described as an armed robbery attempt.
